No problems with this calibration, everything went pretty well, all of the values match up either exactly or very close to exact. Monitor colour looks fine, with no apparent colour casts. Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Photoshop Presentation
For my technique i decided to do some glamour retouching/airbrushing.
Here's the image i started with:
The first thing i decided to do was to change the shape of her eyebrow. I did this by using the lasso tool to create a selection of the eyebrow, then right clicked and selected layer via copy. i then made the eyebrow into a smart object, so i wouldn't lose any quality while getting it to the right shape. i used the warp tool to manipulate the eyebrow to the shape i wanted. Then i used the eraser tool to get rid of the lines made by the selection and the clone tool to remove any parts of the eyebrow i didn't want. I then repeated this process to make her nose smaller and her lips bigger. Here's the result:
I then decided to change the colour of her lips. I did this by using a colour balance adjustment layer with a layer mask to apply it only to her lips. i then fiddled around until i got the colour where i liked it. Here's the result:
The next step was to smooth out her skin. First i went over with the heal tool to remove any obvious spots or freckles etc. I made a copy of the background then selected Filter>Blur>Surface and set the Radius to 49 and the threshold to 123. i turned the layer opacity down to 50%. I then held down Alt and clicked on the add vector mask option. I then selected the brush tool and painted on the areas that i wanted smoothed out, being careful to avoid any edges etc. Here's the result:
The next step was to change her eye colour. I used the elliptical marquee tool to select just her irises. by holding down shift & alt i was able to keep it a perfect circle. I copied these onto a new layer using layer via copy. I then made a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer with a clipping mask so that the changes would only apply to the eyes, and again just fiddled around until i got the colour i was after. Here's the result:
